Finding Design Inspiration from a Cincinnati Airbnb
We find design inspiration in the places we stay when we travel. This Cincinnati Airbnb, a renovated space in a building from the 1890s, exceeded our expectations.
Why not find inspiration while traveling? Vishion visited Cincinnati and selected a stunning Airbnb to help us find design inspiration. This Cincinnati Airbnb is in the heart of the city, walking distance from Over-the-Rhine’s top bars and restaurants, as well as Washington Park. As soon as you walk into the building you find a color palette of natural wood, off-white and taupe fill the tiles, wall and trim.
When you open the door into the apartment you’re instantly taken by the interior window, bringing additional light from the bedroom to the main living space. The taupe trim and doors, which we identified as Sherwin-Williams SW 2820 Downing Earth, elevate the rental apartment to an inspirational space.
Inside the Airbnb
The renovated apartment is an 1890s building, designed to maintain its’s historic integrity while including modern elements. The industrial-chic aesthetic features combine bamboo flooring with exposed masonry. Here are some pictures inside the space.
Using the Airbnb for design inspiration
When we visited the space, we used the Vishion app to find the key color palette in the apartment. We found the closest color to the boldest paint in the space was Sherwin-Williams SW 2820 Downing Earth. You can see in the video that we physically confirmed the color with a Sherwin-Williams palette guide to give us color confidence.
We searched for products matching our palette using the Vishion app. Here’s what we found.

Samantha Smith started Vishion in 2017 after struggling to find a specific piece of home decor in the perfect color. Thus, was born Sam’s vision for Vishion. Today, the color search engine partners with some of the top brands in the world to help interior design professionals and design lovers search for products and designs by color, instantly.
When Smith isn’t pitching and traveling to various competitions or running her Vishion team, she can be found hanging with her husband, Steve, and their two dogs in Charlotte, NC.
