This fall, Sherwin-Williams announced the 2020 Color of the Year: Naval SW 6244. In this article, we explore professionally designed kitchen concepts in Naval.
Naval SW 6244 is a rich navy hue that strikes a balance between calm and confident. According to Sherwin-Williams’ Colormix Forecast for 2020, Naval is a marriage of the glamour of Art Deco and the serenity of a yoga studio. In September, we wrote about Naval, how it was inspired, and how it can be used in residential and commercial interior design. Today on the blog, we’re narrowing our focus to all-things-kitchen. Keep reading to find out how professional interior designers are incorporating Sherwin-Williams’ Color of the Year into their kitchen designs.
Color Psychology: Navy Blue
Navy blue falls somewhere in the middle of classical blue and black. Because of its close ties to the latter, navy blue conveys themes such as confidence, authority, and sophistication—much like the color black. Navy blue, like most shades of blue, can also be linked to themes such as tranquility, stability, and creativity.
Kitchen Inspiration in Naval
Naval nods to themes such as wellness and nature, making it the perfect paint color for your kitchen walls or cabinetry. In terms of color combinations, Sherwin-Williams recommends gold tones, such as Tarnished Trumpet SW 9026 or Midday SW 6695, which will serve to brighten up the broodiness of the navy tone. For a look that’s more down-to-earth, Sherwin-Williams recommends an earthy green, such as Kale Green SW 6460.
